Sometimes people get confused about the difference between a jaguar and a leopard. The two wild cats look very similar. They both have tan or yellow fur with rosettes or all black fur.
Here’s how you can spot the difference between a jaguar and a leopard:
Where They Live
Jaguars live in the Americas, from Mexico to Central America to South America. Leopards live in Africa and Asia.
Their Size and Shape
Jaguars are larger and stockier than leopards.
Their Rosettes
Although both jaguars and leopards have rosettes, jaguar rosettes are larger and have little spots inside them. Leopard rosettes are smaller with no spots inside them.
Now see if you can identify which is a leopard and which is a jaguar in the photo at the top of the post.
