Baby Mandrill at Michigan Zoo

Baby mandrill at Potter Park Zoo

The Potter Park Zoo of Lansing, MI welcomed a new baby mandrill on November 18, 2010.  The new male mandrill is part of the zoo’s Species Survival Plan, which aims to strengthen sustainable populations.

Mandrills are native to Western Africa.  They are considered vulnerable by the IUCN Redlist.

  1. We saw this baby on February 18. What a complete joy it was to witness a rare baby in a Michigan zoo. Just loved him and watched for hours. Congratulations on having one of the most interesting and beautiful primates on exhibit. We’ll be back many more times to watch him grow.
